Planters by Adelaide Outdoor Kitchens
Our planters are made in Adelaide, South Australia, in our very own workshop.
We design our planters all in house, then create them using durable concrete.
Concrete is incredibly versatile - we can make any size, shape and colour to suit your garden.
So what are planters, anyway?
In simple terms, a garden planter is a container where you can plant seeds, vegetables, flowers – anything really! Planters are generally smaller than a garden bed, so they’re perfect for small yards and balconies. It’s like having your very own personal garden.
Planters can be made from a variety of materials – from ceramic, clay, plastic, glass, metal, and wood. They also come in all sorts of sizes and can be raised or ground level. So no matter what your situation (or gardening skill!), the perfect planter is out there for you.
It’s better for the soil
Are you a lazy gardener? No worries! Planters are a great way of creating a ‘no work’ garden.
Planters mean no more tilling. Tiling is the process of turning over and breaking up the soil. Gardeners till the soil once a year to add fertilisers and seeds. Who has time for that anyway?
Simply add your compost or mulch over the top of your soil. The soil is capable of doing its own tilling as worms and roots push their way through. While regular tilling by human hands tends to deplete the soil structure, doing nothing builds up the organic component of your soil.
So put your feet up, and let the planter do its thing!
You don’t need to weed that much
More great news for those beginner gardeners – planters don’t need that much weeding!
Planters have a smaller surface area, so it’s unlikely that weeds will find their way into the pots. And because you won’t be tilling the soil, weeds won’t be buried and then propagate.
All you need to do is cover your planter with mulch, cardboard, or black plastic in spring. This will kill any plants that grow in winter. Then you can just rake off the dead weeds before they seed.
So much easier than getting dirty!

They’re not permanent
Renters rejoice! You can finally have the cute little garden you’ve always dreamt of.
Most planters can be moved around to different areas, or to suit your needs. You can relocate some planters to a sunny spot during the morning, or a shadier place in the afternoon.
And when you move out, your planter can come with you. Just take out the soil, spread it out, and throw down more grass seed.
Adelaide Outdoor Kitchens don’t just design and build stunning outdoor kitchens. We create customised planters for your garden as well! That dream garden can finally be yours. Come into our showroom where we have our planters on display. Give Justin a call on 0437 658 850 to book your visit.
